Hudson Lifting reaches Portsmouth

Specialist hirer Hudson Lifting has opened a new depot in Portsmouth on an industrial estate close to the M27 motorway, expanding its service to the south coast. 

The new facility will offer equipment for hire or sale, including hoisting, hauling, jacking and material handling products from suppliers such as Tractel, Genie and Tiger.

Depot Manager Dan Whitcher says that Hudson Lifting also offers inspection, testing, maintenance and repair services on customers’ owned equipment, as well as online certification management in order to maximise safety and productivity. and to meet LOLER regulations. Bespoke solutions can also be designed. 

Hudson Lifting was acquired by AER Rents in April 2023, as reported previously on the blog. 

Jeff Hudson, Director, added: “From a single depot a few years ago, we now have four depots operating in the south and south-east - and, with the support of our new owners AER Rents, we have big plans to open even more in strategic locations throughout the UK. Our business is successful and growing - it’s an exciting time”.

AER Rents is owned by O’Flaherty Holdings, an Ireland-based family business group whose activities include a significant automotive business, including exclusive distribution of the Mercedes-Benz brand in Ireland, as well as having an extensive property and investment portfolio. 

AER Rents Ltd was created to develop interests in the plant hire markets in the UK and Ireland, acquiring Mr Plant Hire in 2014 followed by the purchases of Drogheda Hire & Sales, Mainline Group, Welfare4Hire, Chippindale Plant Hire & Sales and Hudson Lifting to form a complementary network of specialist equipment and plant hire products and services.
