CPA to shape the future

The CPA has announced that the theme of its 2024 Conference will be Shaping the Future: Insights for the Plant-hire Sector and will discuss topics such as innovation, decarbonisation, digitalisation, skills, business growth, succession planning and mental health and wellbeing in the construction sector.

Being held on Thursday, 7 November at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre in Fillongley near Coventry, the event will hosted by former BBC, ITV and Channel 4 presenter Merryn Myatt with industry vlogger and social media content creator Peter Haddock as a co-presenter.

Five main panel sessions are being planned. Topics will include an assessment of the plant hire industry’s current economic and political context, and the future innovations that could be brought about in areas such as decarbonisation,  digitalisation and artificial technology.

Another session will address industry skills and how to attract new people into plant hire, particularly women, and another area of focus will be planning for business growth, investment and succession strategies.

The panel session discussing Panel mental health and wellbeing will hear directly about the work that the Lighthouse Club construction charity undertakes to help companies engage with their workforce.

CPA President Brian Jones said: “This will be the ninth CPA Conference we have held and we felt this year’s event should address the core issues that are of importance right now to CPA members and the wider construction industry.

“Last year’s theme was Facing the Challenges  and the CPA Conference 2024 has moved on to discussing how attendees can help shape the future of the industry and provide solutions. It’s gearing up to be a great event and it’s excellent that there has been so much interest in it already.”

A number of exhibitors will be at the event, with confirmed participants including headline sponsor MHM Group,  CITB, Capja, Conquip, GGR Group, Genquip Groundhog, Plant Planet, Point of Rental Software, Prolectric, Rouse Services, Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA), Spartan Solutions and Thomas Group.
