AER buys Chippindale

Chippindale Plant Ltd has been acquired by AER Rents. The Leeds-based business, which was founded in 1949, offers a tool hire, plant hire and site accommodation activity alongside an equipment sales operation.
The company holds dealerships for Atlas Copco, Belle Group, Bomag, Epiroc, Stihl and Volvo, and has eight depots serving customers throughout the north of England.
Joint managing directors Nigel and Peter Chippindale said that “the acquisition will allow us access to significant further investment to enhance and expand the range of equipment we offer.”
AER Rents is part of the Irish business O’Flaherty Holdings, which has traditionally focused on the motor industry but in recent years has developed a presence in the tool and plant hire market.
In 2014 AER bought London-based Mr Plant Hire and has since added Drogheda Hire & Sales, Mainline Group and the site accommodation specialist Welfare 4 Hire.
