Green Power Hire’s hydrogen package
13 December 2022
Green Power Hire has developed an emission-free system comprising one of its battery storage units charged by a hydrogen fuel cell from Taylor Construction Products (TCP) as a sustainable on-site power source.
Mark Chamberlain, director of Green Power Hire, tells me that the battery pack provides the equivalent of 45kVA when attached to TCP’s new ECO-GH4 power pack which runs off hydrogen gas canisters.
The electro-chemical reaction combining hydrogen with oxygen is virtually silent in operation with the only emission being water vapour.
A conventional diesel generator can be included in a setup for backup purposes.
Mark says that the battery pack is configured so as to prioritise the fuel cell as the power source and that it can provide single-phase or three-phase output.
Green Power Hire is a rehire partner with Speedy, which has supplied the hydrogen fuel cell/battery package to Costain for a highways project on the A12, pictured above.
