Smooth running with Himoinsa

The ability of battery power storage systems to optimise generator running times and reduce fuel consumption is arousing even more attention in the wake of energy supply disruption caused by the Ukraine conflict, as well as Net Zero aspirations, and that is certainly the experience of Himoinsa which makes the EHR unit.
The machine is designed for simple operation via a management system called Hicore. Once the on switch is pressed, the user is guided through the setup by a clear display and the can choose from several modes of use.
The EHR is designed for integration into systems using gas or diesel generators and to connect to the grid or photovoltaic modules. The Hicore system can also automatically control the optimal energy source for specific charging conditions for environmental factors and energy efficiency. The battery carries a 7-year manufacturer's warranty.
The EHR is available in single-phase (10kVA) and three-phase (15, 30 and 45kVA), with two different storage capacity options per model, in ratios of 1:1 and 1:2. Using the former makes it possible to complete the battery charging process in less than 1.5 hours, the company states.
Each model has an overload capacity of up to 300% for when starting electrical motors. This can also be combined with the battery storage energy and the principal power source (generator or mains supply) to increase the total hybrid system output by an additional 100A, says Himoinsa.
A hybrid arrangement can increase generator lifetime by three times, reduce maintenance requirements by up to 50% and lower fuel consumption by up to 40%, helping to reduce the user’s carbon footprint. It also avoids over-sizing the generator and gives more efficient running.
Clive Dix, managing director of UK subsidiary Himoinsa Power Solutions, tells me that more hire companies are expressing interest in the product. He expects to confirm shortly an order from a hirer for a significant number of EHRs for its sustainable equipment fleet, having been impressed by its simplicity of operation.
