Waste pump delivers savings

A waste maceration and pumping system for installation in temporary or permanent site offices and welfare units has been designed to improve efficiency and lower carbon footprints through reduced service vehicle movements.

The Cabinpump from Paradigm Systems can pump effluent over distances of up to 600m into a gravity drain. It can also be connected to an above-ground storage tank, which is larger than a standard effluent tank, so that fewer tanker visits are needed for waste collection.

Louise Roy, business director executive with Paradigm, says that the unit is radar controlled and empties automatically when a certain level is reached, meaning that running costs are minimised. Twin macerators are incorporated for efficiency.

“Health & Safety is also enhanced as there are fewer tanker visits and less risk from trailing pipes,” she said.

“On a project in London, a Cabinpump was in use for five months. It avoided 250 tanker trips and saved the client over £45,000, with a CO2 reduction of 2200kg.”

The unit has been used at construction sites, rail projects, schools and hospitals.

Paradigm Systems is based in Reading and has a national network of service engineers. The company also says that, in the event of an operational issue, a technician can respond via a video call within 15 minutes.
