Portable light reduces highway glare
5 July 2022
Given the number of road construction and maintenance projects on the UK highway network and the amount of work undertaken at night, lighting equipment is in steady hire demand.
Mobile VMS has introduced the Ver-Mac PPL-1000 portable presence presence light which is designed to minimise the risk of glare for oncoming traffic.
Two lithium batteries power the LED lamp which produces up to 14,000 lumens and give a running time of typically between 10 to 15 hours. A balloon diffuser can be attached to the light head to reduce glare, and the lamp can also be positioned to illuminate specific areas.
The PPL-1000’s telescopic mast reaches up to 4.26m and the machine folds up for transport and storage.
Chris Davies, business development manager at Mobile VMS, tells me that a study in the US showed that providing lighting to warn drivers of lane closures led to reductions in traffic speed, enhancing safety.
Mobile VMS also offers a range of solar powered mobile variable message systems, lighting towers, CCTV and speed indication devices.
