Wacker Neuson brings electric benefits

A recent project to renovate the market square in Stuttgart city centre provided an opportunity to test the practicability of electric machinery.

Leonhard Weiss, a construction company, trialled the entire zero emission range from Wacker Neuson during the contract. This included using battery powered rammers and compaction plates, as well as the manufacturer’s electric DT10e track dumper, DW15e wheel dumper, WL20e wheel loader and EZ17e zero tail swing mini excavator.

Simon Schall, the contractor’s head of central machine technology, said that the equipment gave the same power and performance as conventional ones.

"During daily operation, there are fewer maintenance points than with combustion-engine equipment, and drivers or operators can get to grips with the machine much more easily," he added.

He also pointed out that electric construction machinery and equipment can help users to meet increasingly stringent regulated limits on exhaust and noise emissions.
