Prolectric expands into USA

Prolectric, the off-grid, renewable lighting and power specialist, has launched the company’s first transatlantic business with an office opening in Garland, Texas, with immediate effect.

The new US office is based at Prolectric’s parent company, Hill & Smith, and will be headed up by Ben Odell, Business Development Lead, Prolectric USA. The new operation will focus primarily on the distribution of Prolectric’s ‘smart tower lights and hybrid generators.

Rachel Preen, Managing Director of Prolectric, said: “The US market for solar is extremely buoyant. With expected growth in new solar capacity, Texas has tremendous potential for us.

“We warmly welcome Ben Odell, our business development lead in the US, to Prolectric. His wealth of experience in the construction sector is perfectly placed to support businesses looking to save on their fleet running costs and transition away from diesel to solar power.

“This market opportunity provides a natural progression for us to scale the business, building on our rapid UK growth ambition, Prolectric’s robust solar credentials, award-winning product standards for British engineering and CSR,” Rachel added.

Prolectric manufactures sustainable solar lighting and solar hybrid power generators, serving a wide range of industries from construction, housebuilding and rail to major infrastructure.

Since launching the company’s first award-winning solar lighting tower in 2016, they have saved over 30,000 tons of CO2e (equivalent to emissions from the annual energy use of approximately 2,700 homes) and reduced diesel usage by more than 2.6 million gallons. In the UK to date, this represents a customer saving of over $3 million.

Prolectric’s range incorporates a number of innovative features including lights that autonomously adapt to ensure optimum performance, 24 hours a day. This is achieved by using AI to interpret historical data to anticipate weather, seasonal, and climactic conditions based on the GPS location of the product.

In addition, SmartRemote software enables users to manage the power to each of the product’s connected on-site assets, turning on and off from anywhere in the world, reducing the amount of wasted power.

Prolectric is based in Clevedon and was awarded a Queen’s Award for Sustainable Development in 2021. It also holds a Gold CSR accreditation.
