Boels to acquire Riwal

Netherlands-based hire giant Boels Rental has announced the prospective acquisition of Riwal, the aerial work platform hire specialist. The deal is subject to certain customary conditions being fulfilled including approvals by the relevant competition authorities. 

Boels and Riwal hold strong positions in their respective markets. In European regions where presence overlaps, they plan to leverage combined experience and resources, but the companies say the acquisition would also open doors to new markets, such as Spain and France. 

Boels has a comprehensive European network with a presence in 18 countries and 764 branches. Riwal, which was founded in 1968, has a global footprint with 65 branches in 14 countries including India and Qatar. 

Pierre Boels, CEO of Boels Rental, says the aerial work platform fleet of the combined operation would total more than 55,000 machines with a value of some €3.6 billion.
