BGG UK’s new Enerpack Cranemaster is a smart energy storage system with a lithium battery and an integrated charger/inverter that is designed specifically to handle significant peak load requirements. 

Chris Archer, Managing Director of BGG UK, tells me that the inverter system has been developed by Powertronix – a sister business within the Bruno Group – to cope with large initial power demands. 

This typically occurs when large equipment like tower cranes, hoists and pumps start up. Chris says that the Enerpack Cranemaster’s battery can deliver a continuous 390kW overload boost for five minutes. 

He adds that, in field trials, the machine’s performance has enabled a generator with a capacity of as low as 60kVA to be used in tower crane applications. 

BGG UK says that it has plans for another significant launch at the Hillhead construction and quarrying plant show in Buxton this June.
