Trelawny and Duro celebrate

Surface preparation equipment specialist Trelawny SPT was in celebratory mood at the recent Executive Hire Show, being an opportunity to mark its ten-year distribution partnership with DURO Yokota, whose range includes drilling and cutting equipment, accessories and diamond products.

Trelawny says that, due to its large export market and sales into other industries, it has historically partnered with a main distributor in the UK to reach the hire market. In 2014, with Trelawny looking for a new UK distribution partner and DURO Yokota looking seeking to add to its growing machinery programme, the partnership was formed, supplying floor preparation machines and pneumatic tools.

2023 was a record year in terms of sales into the hire sector for both companies, owing to several factors including a successful summer promotion that ran for three months and new products added to the range that quickly proved popular.

To give something back to their customer base, both companies ran a competition at the Show, with everyone placing an order for a machine being entered into a prize draw. First prize comprised four different Trelawny surface preparation machines and accessories valued at over £6,000, which was won by Stan Moore of Moore Equipment Hire, who scooped a TCG250 single head floor grinder, TFP200 floor planer, TFS230 floor stripper and an A22 dust extraction.

A second prize of a TFS23 floor stripper was won by Dave Webster of CV Hire Centre in Coventry - he made it into the draw by the skin of his teeth with about 15 minutes to go before the deadline.

Trelawny and DURO Yokota say that demand over the past year has been strong across the product line-up, with the TCG250 floor grinder and compatible dust extraction units continuing to be popular with hirers, along with low-vibration pneumatic scalers and scabblers.
