Takeuchi goes electric

Takeuchi will mark its return to the Executive Hire Show next week by launching its new and highly anticipated electric mini excavator which has been trialled extensively for two years in the field.

The manufacturer says that power, performance and work rate have been placed at the heart of the new 100% battery powered TB20e model’s development. It states confidently say that the machine matches the charteristics of a comparable TB216 diesel mini in every aspect, but is quieter and produces zero emissions.

Indeed, Takeuchi says that the TB20e can give eight hours of continuous working time at 65% load, and that it matches a TB216 for dig depth, dump height, travel and slew speed.

The machine has electro-hydraulic controls, a 24.7kW lithium-ion battery and there are three charging options: onboard, off-board and tethered. It is available with a portable fast charger that can be rested securely on the excavator blade during transportation.

The TB20e has been trialled in the United Rentals fleet for two years in the US and Takeuchi are confident of its performance credentials.

See it on the company’s stand (I16) at the Show, taking place at the Coventry Building Society Arena on 14 and 15 February.
