Long-reach Stihl
24 January 2024
Stihl has launched two new professional battery pole pruners that are said to give the same 1.4kW power output as their petrol driven counterparts.
Part of the manufacturer’s AP System, the HTA 150 and HTA 160 are powered by a low-maintenance and are designed to cut through large branches in professional arboriculture and forestry applications.
The HTA 160 has a rigid telescopic shaft with a maximum length of 405cm, while the HTA 150 has a shorter, fixed length shaft best suited to thinning work in young stands.
The tools have lightweight magnesium gearboxes and the sprocket cover is designed to facilitate efficient ejection of wood shavings. A metal mesh air filter helps to cool the battery and motor during operation.
Both are compatible with the Stihl’s Smart Connector 2 A which can collect data on aspects such as operating time and speed history, and also alerts the user when maintenance tasks are due.
