Brian James motors into hire

Brian James Trailers is making inroads into the plant and equipment hire market with a line-up of products aimed at companies operating in the sector.

The Daventry-based business was established 45 years ago and initially focused on the demanding motor sports market. It has gradually broadened its portfolio and expanded its manufacturing facilities to offer a variety of models, sizes and options.

The products are designed for reliability and low lifetime running costs, and the family-owned company already supplies a growing number of national and independent hirers, who hire them together with equipment or on their own, or use them for plant collection and delivery.

At the Executive Hire Show on 14 and 15 February at the CBS Arena in Coventry, Brian James Trailers will launch a new compact plant trailer on its stand (A74) as an addition to its Digger Plant range.

The trailer (pictured above) has a 2.8m bed with a gross weight of 3500kg and a load capability of up to 2910kg. Business Development Manager Jim Cherry says that as more operators are looking to transport heavier machines together with more accessories, they will appreciate the gross weight capacity of more than the standard 2.7 tonnes for small plant trailers.

The model on display at the Show will be fitted with an optional full width tail panel, the company’s heavy-duty TracStrap system for easy loading and safe transportation, as well as a bucket locker, arm lock and wheel nut indicators.

A five-year warranty is provided on all parts manufactured by Brian James Trailers, and standard equipment includes a spare wheel, locking hitch and LED lights.

A popular product in the company’s existing line-up is the largest General Plant trailer model (pictured below) for transporting multiple small plant or larger excavators, access platforms or 3-tonne dumpers.

Also, the Brian James Trailer enclosed Car Transporters are regularly used as a package with specialist high-value equipment. The company developed a custom version of this model for Sunbelt Rentals’ new  Flooring Solutions business, as reported previously on the blog.

For demanding specialist applications, the company offers Connect flat bed trailers sharing the same structure and running gear as its open car trailers. These are available in fixed or tilt bed versions and with a variety of loading ramps, sides, winches and other accessories.

Jim Cherry says that the scale of Brian James Trailers’ manufacturing operation means that products can be supplied very quickly.
