Develon wins innovation awards

Plant manufacturer Develon is to receive honours in two categories of the CES (Consumer Electronic Show) 2024 Innovation Awards being held in Las Vegas from 9 to 12 January.
One award is in the Vehicle Tech & Advanced Mobility category for the company’s Smart Collision Mitigation with Sensor Fusion, an active safety system that detects objects around an excavator through a combination of camera and radar technology. The machine is equipped with four or more cameras to provide a 360-degree view. Using AI (artificial intelligence), it can selectively detect people or objects, says Develon.
In addition, three wide-angle radar sensors with 180-degree horizontal field of view are used to minimise blind spots and to measure the distance of detected objects. If a pedestrian or an object is detected, visual and audible warnings are activated, and the swing and driving speed on the excavator are reduced and then automatically stopped to actively prevent accidents.
The second award is for the X-Agent system in the Mobile Devices, Accessories & Apps category. This is designed to improve operator productivity and skills, particularly in unskilled drivers of excavators, wheel loaders and articulated dump trucks.
X-Agent has an AI function that analyses information such as driver/equipment status and work plans to create an optimised work pattern. It can also be used for remote control operation.
Develon says both technologies will also be displayed on its stand at Intermat being held in Paris from 24 to 27 April 2024.
