Busy Challenger

Challenger Site Services is gearing up to celebrate its 30th anniversary next year. 

I caught up with the Ashton-under-Lyne based toilet hire specialist at the recent Portable Sanitation Europe (PSE) Expo held at the Warwickshire Event Centre near Leamington Spa, and Shaun Challenger, who heads up the business, says the company remains as busy as ever. 

“We’re not seeing any slowdown, with steady demand from customers, who chiefly come from the construction and events sectors,” he told me. 

The hire fleet has grown steadily to meet demand and it now includes more than 1,200 portable toilet units, sourced mainly from Satellite Industries. 

Challenger now employs 36 people, operates 27 vehicles and serves clients across the north west of England, roughly from Stoke to Blackpool. 

Shaun is pictured (right) on the Satellite Industries stand, with his sons Robert (centre) and Jack who are also part of the senior management team.
