E.T. opens second depot

E.T. Hire has officially opened a new depot in Salford today to serve the busy city of Manchester, complementing its existing location in Bolton.
Managing Director Marcus Gunning says the company has been looking to expand into this area for some time to meet demand from existing customers who are undertaking more business in the city – a good sign given the talk in some quarters of a slowdown.
The new location will essentially serve the area bounded by the M60 orbital motorway, freeing up Bolton to focus on other parts.
Operations Director Stuart Bailey tells me that the company will be able to reach the centre of Manchester within ten minutes compared with the hour or so that it can take from Bolton during the busy rush hour periods.
The first floor of the new building includes a spacious training room (pictured below) complete with a huge flat screen TV for video presentations as well as a kitchen area, and from the windows you can see the striking number of tower cranes on the Manchester skyline, again illustrating how much work is under way now, with more to follow.
Ian Hartrick, another E.T. Hire Director who heads up the company’s dedicated Site Access Services activity, says that demand for training continues to increase, including PASMA programmes and topics such as abrasive wheels, first aid and face fit mask courses.
E.T. Hire Salesman Ashley Farlow says that one of the most eye-catching features of the Salford depot is the bespoke illuminated signage (see below) which certainly stands out and makes the site virtually impossible to miss.
The company has made a significant investment in new kit for Salford from suppliers such as Altrad Belle, Hire Supply Co, Hilti, Husqvarna, Pop-Up Products, Armorgard and UTS Sales and Repairs.
E.T Hire held two customer days last week in advance of the official opening so that new and existing clients could inspect the new facility and check out some of the latest products in the fleet. I’ll be reporting on that in more detail in a future blog post.
