Seddons senior appointment
25 October 2023
Seddons (Plant & Engineers) has just appointed Chris Derbyshire as Operations Director, as the business continues its onward progress.
Chris, pictured above, has a career background chiefly in IT and was previously MD of a charitable trust serving health care organisations and local authorities, where he helped to successfully negotiate challenges arising out of Covid-19, energy price rises and global financial pressures.
“One of my first challenges has been learning all about the sheer range of products and spares that Seddons supplies,” Chris told me.
“Seddons is a family business with a strong service culture and it has an astonishing proportion of people with 20, 30 or even 40 years of service, which shows the strength of the company. And there is a clear appetite to develop further in the years ahead.”
As a major equipment dealership, Seddons currently represents 27 well-known brands and offers more than 50,000 product lines across hire, construction, grounds care and other markets.
Talking to Chris and Seddons Business Development Director David Probert in the newly refurbished offices at the company’s Bolton headquarters, it’s clear that Seddons is exploring new product opportunities that can be added to its portfolio and we will likely hear more about some of these before long.
Incidentally, the stylish office refurbishment included the creation of an additional meeting room (shown below), upgraded kitchen and breakout areas and the exterior installation of electrical vehicle charging points. And as part of the company’s carbon reduction plan, no gas is now used in heating the building, with all power coming from electricity sourced from green suppliers.
