Makita makes the cut

Makita continues to introduce new products to its grounds care equipment line-up with the addition of two line trimmers and a brush cutter, each of which has a brushless motor.

The battery powered UR014G and UR017G line trimmers and the and the UR013G brush cutter join the manufacturer’s high-performance 40VMax XGT portfolio of product designed to give performance comparable with equivalent petrol-powered machines without the noise, environmental or safety considerations in storing and transporting fuel.

Designed for heavy-duty tasks, the UR013G brush cutter (pictured above) delivers a maximum 1500W output equivalent to that of a 35cc petrol machine and incorporates a high-torque mode and variable speed control. It also has a temporary reverse rotation function to untangle long grass.

The UR017G line trimmer delivers up to 600W which is similar to a 23cc petrol engine. An ADT (automatic torque drive technology) mode adjusts the speed and torque automatically for optimal performance and the tool also has the grass tangle removal setting.

The UR014G 40VMax XGT line trimmer has a maximum 1500W output. As well as a high-torque setting for demanding tasks, its reverse rotation mode allows control over the direction in which the grass clippings are scattered. Clippings can be distributed to the right or left with clockwise and anti-clockwise rotation respectively, facilitating work when cutting verges or lawns next to a road or driveway.

All three machines have Makita’s Active Feedback Sensing Technology (AFT) which is designed to shuts the tool down if the rotation speed suddenly slows.

The XGT portfolio of garden machinery now includes more than 35 products including lawnmowers, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, blowers and earth augers.
