Any colour you like

Peterhead-based equipment hirer MB Plant has bought a further ten Shindaiwa ECO300 diesel welder generators bringing the total number of these models in its fleet to more than 100.
The units are being delivered this week and have been finished in blue instead of the standard Shindaiwa red.
“The machines are destined for a long-term hire contract that MB Plant has won from a marine fabrication business which wanted them in their primary corporate colour,” Andy Munford, Shindaiwa Ltd’s MD, tells me.
“We were able to do this because we have a dedicated paint bay at our factory. It gives us great flexibility and control over quality as we don’t have to outsource the procedure. And it speeds up the process.”
The ECO300 is a popular machine that has been in Shindaiwa’s portfolio since the operation was established in 2011, although it has been updated over the years and now, for example, has a Stage V low-emission engine.
The unit can provide 50A to 300A of DC welding current and offers simultaneous use of welding and 110V/415V AC auxiliary power. The 3kVA 110V supply can power larger power tools such as 9in grinders and provides 8kVA of 3-phase power, giving operational flexibility from both a user and a hirer’s perspective.
Andy says that business remains brisk and that news of other Shindaiwa orders will be announced soon.
