Charles Wilson expands with MTS acquisition
18 July 2023
Charles Wilson Engineers (CW Plant Hire) has acquired MTS Plant Hire based in Wakefield.
MTS was established in 1986 as a dealer in construction and agricultural machinery throughout its local area, moving into equipment hire in 1997. Its fleet includes skid steer loaders, mini excavators and site dumpers.
Charles Wilson states that the self-financed acquisition will give its CW Plant Hire division the second largest hire fleet of skid steers in the UK, as well as an additional team of experienced engineers and drivers.
The deal will not only bring additional equipment for its fleet, but also a team of experienced engineers and drivers to complement the current Charles Wilson offering.
“We’re delighted to add MTS Plant Hire to the Charles Wilson family. With a great fleet of machinery and a fantastic team, this deal really strengthens our position as one of the UK’s leading plant hire companies,” David Gallagher, Chief Executive, said on social media.
“We wish MTS Group success, as they continue to focus on their specialised electric vehicle business Carryway,” he added.
In addition to its Wakefield head office, MTS has depots in County Durham, Greater Manchester, Cumbernauld and a sales office in East London.
This latest acquisition follows on from Charles Wilson's purchase last year of M&J Hire Centres, a deal which took the CW Plant depot network to 30 locations across the UK.
