Accessible unit from Advanté

Welfare and site accommodation manufacturer Advanté has launched a specially designed toilet block with facilities for wheelchair users.

The Vision Solar Access, which has DDA-compliant (Disability Discrimnation Act) facilities, comprises a two-bay toilet area with two urinals accessed by a short staircase and a single full-access toilet with a ramp and automatic door system, compliant with Building Regulations for disabled access.

Stan Chapman, Research & Development Director at Advanté, said: “We held in-depth discussions on what clients required from a disabled access unit to ensure we understood fully the needs and challenges to be met. The final unit design took its inspiration from an already successful model in our range in meeting all access needs, plus we built on our expertise in utilising renewable energy.”

The Vision Solar Access unit comprises a two-bay toilet area with two urinals accessed by a short staircase and a single full-access toilet with a ramp and automatic door system, compliant with Building Regulations for disabled access.

The new unit is a variant of Advanté’s Vision Solar toilet block developed as part of the company’s commitment to helping sites achieve net zero. Both are powered by a solar hybrid system, which is fully self-sufficient needing no connection to external services, says the manufacturer. The toilet block includes space heating to give a comfortable environment for users in the colder months.

The unit, which was officially unveiled at last month's Plantworx exhibition by Jackie Maginnis, CEO of the Modular & Portable Building Association (MPBA).measures 7.6m by 2.7m and is powered by Advanté’s Oasis Solar Hybrid Technology. This is designed to deliver up to 100 per cent renewable energy to power the electrical loads in the unit silently, including lighting, hot water and hand dryers, backed up with a 6kVa LPG generator.

With up to 100 per cent of electricity being delivered from renewable sources, the unit gives carbon savings and air quality is enhanced due to minimal reliance on a generator. A telemetry system is also incorporated for remote monitoring.
