Barrus plays specialist role

At the recent Plantworx exhibition, the Industrial Division of EP Barrus extolled the virtues of the specialist engineering support it can provide to customers for the John Deere and Yanmar engines that it distributes in the UK.

John Day, General Manager of the Industrial Division, said that “the Service and Application Engineers team are fully manufacturer trained and ready to support original equipment manufacturers and in-field service requirements. They provide specialist engineering support for all projects, from custom engine builds to in-house testing and in-field application testing and service training.”

On its stand, Barrus showcased the R165C5 Stage V SDMO generator which is fitted with a John Deere 6068HP550 PowerTech PVS 6.8L industrial diesel engine and is used in various applications, including tower cranes, construction sites and event services.

Working with WB Power Services Ltd, a provider of critical power systems, Barrus provides support for its in-field service requirements for all John Deere engines. The mobile service team provides on-site servicing and planned maintenance UK-wide with the company’s engineering workshop and testing facilities giving backup at its Bicester headquarters.

Paul Foster, Service Manager at SDMO, said: “I met John at the Executive Hire Show in February. We discussed the services that Barrus could offer and how the team could help me expand our John Deere support. The service has been outstanding to date.”

John added: “The arrival of Stage V engines above 19kW has posed bigger challenges for applications and service work. This presents equipment manufacturers with more complex installations and a higher level of service is required for the in-field operation.

“We have invested and grown in both of these areas of the business to provide a high level of support to our customers. Uptime is critical for our customers’ business and we need to work together to maintain it.”
