AdBlue auto-dosing from Himoinsa

AdBlue auto-dosing from Himoinsa

An additional operating responsibility when maintaining larger Stage V diesel engines is having to keep AdBlue levels topped up in order to reduce nitrous oxide (NOx) emissions, as on many modern cars.

On machines like site generators which are typically run for long periods, this can become a frequent requirement but is essential to avoid the engine shutting itself down.

Himoinsa has now introduced a dosing system that automatically maintains AdBlue levels via an external tank. The Transfer Control System integrates all engine safety systems, working in coordination with its control unit (ECU) and the generator unit.

“The generator’s operating system constantly monitors the level and quality of AdBlue,” Clive Dix (pictured), MD of Himoinsa Power Solutions tells me. “It means that operators have one less task to perform and it avoids spillages or leakages, preventing corrosion and ground contamination.”

Himoinsa Power Solutions, the UK wholly owned subsidiary, will be offering the system as standard on all its Stage V generators of 100kVA and above from 2024, but it is available now.

Clive says that several large hirers have already expressed keen interest in the automatic system.

He also adds that we can expect to see new additions to Himoinsa’s battery generator range later this year.
