Much of the UK has been enjoying summer temperatures at long last and the near-term trend is for that to continue. 

Indeed the UK Health Security Agency and the Met Office have issued the first heat-health alert of the year, effective from this Friday to next Monday morning for parts of England. And a heatwave expected to see the UK record its hottest day of the year so far this weekend.

While the heat might impact vulnerable groups such as those with underlying health conditions or the elderly, it’s positive news for providers of climate control equipment like the Hire Supply Co as people seek out air conditioners and coolers to alleviate the impact. 

However, Marketing Manager John McGhee tells me that other factors are driving demand, too. 

“We’ve seen increasing demand for our Master BC 341 evaporative bio-cooler (above) which has a built-in ultraviolet lamp to disinfect the water and reduce the risk of bacteria and viruses without the need for chemicals.” 

Perhaps interest in providing clean air has also increased in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. 

The 1050W machine has three fan speeds, a 200-litre tank and a water flow rate of between 15 and 20 litres per hour. 

“Typical users include large warehouse facilities who can use the BC 341 to keep operatives cool in picking and packing areas, with the added advantage of the UV lamp inside. One national hirer recently ordered a large quantity of the machines from us,” says John. 

Also proving popular are HSC’s recently added range of Trotec coolers which includes versatile models that can be used either as an air conditioner, fan, spot cooler or dehumidifier.
