Norton Clipper has launched a range of battery powered construction equipment, with each machine using the same 72V Honda battery and eGX brushless motor.

Products available include a masonry saw, floor saw, power float, forward plate compactor and a rammer. Being battery powered, they emit no fumes or pollutants, create less vibration and produce less noise than petrol counterparts, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use and in low emission zones.

Obviously, as there is no engine powering the products, workshop maintenance and servicing is reduced and there is no risk of oil leaks on work sites.

The new CM350 B masonry saw offers a maximum cutting depth of 120mm and takes a 350mm diameter blade. It can deliver 15 minutes of continuous cutting time or 60 cuts of typical concrete paving slabs.

The CS352 B floor saw also takes a 350mm diameter blade and has a maximum cutting depth of 115mm. Both this machine and the CM350 B masonry saw can be used with Norton Clipper's Silencio blades, which are designed for low noise and maximum performance.

Norton Clipper, which is part of Saint-Gobain Abrasives, says that the CS352 B is approximately twice as quiet as its petrol equivalent when both are fitted with Silencio blades, and around 27 times quieter than the petrol machine with a standard blade. The battery delivers 20 minutes of continuous cutting.

The new CT601 B power float has a 600mm working diameter. It offers 40 minutes’ operating time, as does the CFP WB compaction plate which delivers 13kN of centrifugal force and has a 420mm plate width.

The final newcomer is the CR11 B rammer which delivers 11kN of force and offers three working speeds. The battery gives up to 50 minutes of continuous operation.

The B720 battery has a rated capacity of 10Ah and reaches full charge from flat in 90 minutes using the C700 quick charger.

Ian Cornelius, Commercial Director at Saint-Gobain Abrasives, said: "The all-encompassing range of battery-powered machines provide less noise, reduced vibrations and no fumes at all, thus enhancing ergonomics, comfort and safety.

“Norton Clipper's battery-powered machinery range offers the advantage of flexibility – conveniently working in various locations, whether in confined spaces, indoors or outdoors, without the concerns associated with the risks from exhaust fumes.

"There is a huge focus on sustainability in the construction industry, and battery-powered machines are part of the solution by offering the opportunity to switch away from combustion engines on work sites," he added.

Norton Clipper has also introduced a range of electric floor preparation and maintenance equipment for use on concrete, wood and other surfaces. These will be covered in a future blog post.
