Specialist hirer Power Electrics says that in 2023 it helped customers to save over 40,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions by continuing to invest heavily in the next generation of temporary power equipment.

In its recently released Sustainability Report 2023, the company says that such measures lower not only users’ impact on the environment but also that of the business.

Equipment that has been added to the hire Power Electrics hire fleet include battery energy storage units to store energy produced by a solar panel, a wind turbine or a generator, which can then be released when needed. The gives a significant reduction in emissions, fuel consumption and noise pollution, and the company now has more than 200 sets.

Investment has also been made in more than 100 Stage V diesel generators to meet low-emission regulations, particularly in urban environments. These can also be run on

HVO (hydro-treated vegetable oil) to further reduce emissions of CO2, nitrogen oxides and particulates, and in 2023 Power Electrics provided customers with 4.4 million litres of the fuel as an alternative to diesel, which has removed the equivalent of 12,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

Also, by pairing the battery energy storage units with the generators, an efficient hybrid power system can be devised. Power Electrics estimates that it has helped customers reduce their CO2 emissions by 29,000 tonnes last year.
