Atlas Copco at the Summit
29 February 2024
Recently established specialist hirer Summit Power has added two ZBC battery energy storage units from Atlas Copco to its fleet.
The Ashby-de-la-Zouch business, which is a subsidiary of access machinery hirer Summit Platforms, says that the 250kVA/575kWh ZBC machines join a fleet of what it expects to be a 70/30 split in demand between diesel and electric portable power during 2024.
The ZBC units have high-density lithium-ion batteries and are suited for noise-sensitive environments such as events and urban construction sites, telecoms, hire applications and to efficiently cover low loads. They can also meet high energy demand applications and variable load profiles, says the manufacturer.
Summit Power’s inaugural Managing Director Ross McConachie said: “We’ll be able to provide our rental customers with a unique level of high-capacity energy storage, be that solely battery or through an engineered hybrid solution.”
Paul Webster, Atlas Copco Energy Storage Business line manager added: “We’re very pleased to be supporting Summit Power right at its inception and believe adding these ZBC units to its fleet is a sound, future-proofed business decision. Our consolidated energy storage system range is at the heart of the power supply transformation. Developed with sustainability in mind, it helps users dramatically reduce their fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, while delivering optimal performance with reduced noise and service cycles.”
