Battery Bobcat helps historic project

A Bobcat electric mini excavator is being used for work at a historic site of architectural significance in Naples.
Dating back to the sixteenth century, the Complesso Monumentale dei Girolamini is currently the subject of an archaeological excavation being undertaken by Lucci Salvatore Srl, a contractor with specific skills in restoration and conservation.
Currently, an ancient floor predating the original building has been reached and excavation is underway to find the staircase leading to the room below, with the work being carried out with a Bobcat E10e electric excavator.
The battery powered 1-tonne machine gives the same performance as a diesel counterpart but with reduced noise and vibration, which are important from an archaeological context. It has been equipped with a toothless bucket so as not to risk scratching any artefacts.
