As part of its CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) initiatives, Altrad Belle has donated and installed a defibrillator at the local Manifold Valley Visitor Centre at Hulme End near Leek.

Richard MacPhail, the manufacturer’s Quality, Maintenance and Engineering Manager who headed the project. said: "This defibrillator was donated to Fawfieldhead Parish Council and placed there with kind permission from Staffordshire Moorlands District Council.

"Hulme End is in the Peak District and part of an area which attracts approximately 250,000 visitors each year, so this defibrillator is going to be a life saver not just for the residents but also for anybody who had a cardiac arrest while visiting, although we obviously hope that the equipment is never required."

Ray Neilson, MD of Altrad Belle, along with Richard MacPhail and other employees, including Joanne Shenton and Nicole Segor, officially handed over the unit to Lee Spensley, Chairman of Fawfieldhead Parish Council and several local residents.

Training on how to use the defibrillator will be provided to local first responders and members of the community.

The Manifold Valley Visitor Centre offers information displays outlining the history of the Leek & Manifold Valley Light Railway, and provides walking and cycling information, maps and guide books. It also houses a miniature scale model of the railway and Hulme End station.
