Husqvarna cuts in

On Husqvarna’s stand at the recent Saltex grounds care equipment exhibition at the NEC, I spotted a new cordless cut-off saw from the manufacturer.

The K 540i is an addition to Husqvarna Construction’s 36V BLi battery platform. It takes a 10in (267mm) blade, has an adjustable blade guard and offers a cutting depth of up to 4in (100mm).

Husqvarna says this is the same maximum depth of cut as provided by its K 770 12in petrol disc cutter.

The tool also incorporates the manufacturer's X-Halt electronic brake system that engages automatically if kickback occurs.

To optimise performance, the K 540i is supplied with specially designed Husqvarna diamond blades and the manufacturer says that both the machine and blades are available to order now.

Other products on the BLi 36V platform include a core drill, a dust extractor, a screed for concrete placement, a water tank and a work light, as well as landscaping machines from the Husqvarna Forest & Garden range including chainsaws, hedge trimmers and a leaf blower.

Another new BLi platform addition is the LF 60i LAT plate compactor (shown below), which will be available in 2024. It is said to offer the same performance as a petrol model but with the added benefit of easier starting in all conditions.

Mattias Holmdal, Senior Product Manager at Husqvarna Construction, said: “Battery-powered equipment has the potential to transform working conditions for hard landscapers in urban environments. Regardless of location, the job can be done with efficiency and ease.

“This is particularly so when working in residential or enclosed areas where the absence of exhaust fumes and reduced noise levels can make a difference to the operator and anyone else in the vicinity," he said.
