Demons of cool

Demon International reports growing interest from hirers in its innovative range of battery powered bowser pressure washers.

Director Hayley Watts tells me that a particular design feature of the Tornado Mini-Bowser E model is that the pump pipework from the water tank is cleverly routed under an aluminium heat sink next to the machine’s digital controller.

This reduces the risk of heat build-up in the electronics near the lithium batteries, which are also thermally protected.

The design means that no separate cooling pump is necessary and no extra power is required.

The zero emission machine has two 100A batteries which drive a 24V DC motor, providing up to two hours of continuous running.

Fellow Demon Director David Walke adds that new cabling is being used on the machine which extends battery life, which is a great example of how manufacturers are constantly fine-tuning products to make them even more sustainable.

Hayley, who is pictured with the Tornado Mini-Bowser E on Demon's stand at last week's Saltex show, joined the company full-time two years ago and has taken on a more prominent role in the business, the day-to-day running of which has in recent years been mainly in the hands of her father, Martyn Walke, and his brother David.
