Prolectric has just unveiled an innovative calculator to help companies identify the environmental benefits and cost savings they can achieve by switching from diesel equipment to the company’s solar and hybrid lighting and power generation machinery.

Rachel Preen, Prolectric’s Managing Director, said: “Our range of environmentally friendly, advanced performance products have been designed as direct like-for-like diesel replacements, making them a simple switch. The environmental case is clear, but our new savings calculator provides a simple yet highly effective tool to support businesses to see the full benefits and build a commercial case to switch to solar.

“Since launching our first solar lighting tower in 2017, we estimate to have saved our clients 26 million kilograms of CO2 and reduced diesel usage by more than 10 million litres. That has probably saved our customers more than £9 million,” she added.

The online calculator asks for details about the proposed site’s location, expected night-time running hours and anticipated project length. The user then gives information on their current fuel type and typical price, as well as likely labour costs.

The results show the predicted carbon savings and cost decreases that could be achieved when using different Prolectric solar and solar hybrid machines, together with details of noise level reductions. The data can be emailed as a PDF for retention.

“We are committed to providing practical and commercially viable ways for businesses to stop using polluting fossil fuels to reduce carbon emissions,” added Rachel. “Our new tool offers another level of granularity for customers during the critical specification and procurement stages, with quick access to understandable data, so they can make informed decisions which in turn will help them achieve their net zero goals and save money.”

Prolectric offers a range of solar lights, hybrid generators and CCTV equipment designed to provide high-performance temporary and permanent site lighting, power, and security and serves users in construction, house building, infrastructure and rail industries, as well as hire companies. Its equipment and telematics systems have been specifically designed and developed for UK weather conditions.

The Bristol-based company was awarded a Queen’s Award for sustainable development in 2021 and holds a Gold CSR (corporate social responsibility) accreditation.
