GAP’s green agenda

GAP Group has launched its Sustainability Plan 2023 as an update on its initiatives to help its customers work towards achieving net zero.

GAP has set the goal of reaching net zero in its operations by 2040 by reducing its Scope 1 and 2 emissions by at least 90 per cent, with further reductions in overall Scope 3 emissions (arising from the wider supply chain). The aim is to achieve net zero across the supply chain by 2050 or earlier if possible.

The company is a Partner and Gold Member of the Supply Chain Sustainability School and is one of 12 companies to have signed its Plant Commitment Charter. This lists commitments to reduce air quality impacts and carbon emissions, and also lays out minimum standards for the engines fitted to the plant in its fleet.

GAP has produced an Environmental and Innovative Products Brochure highlighting equipment using new technologies such as solar, battery and hydrogen power, as well as carbon emissions monitoring and telematics.

The hirer has also adopted the Cesar ECV (Emissions Compliance Verification) scheme for operated equipment in its fleet, which utilises QR codes and identification labels to quickly show information on a machine's emissions.
