Green Vp

As mentioned briefly when the blog reported on Vp’s full-year results last week, the group recently achieved ISO 50001 certification, which provides a framework of requirements for organizations to develop a policy for more efficient use of energy.

The standard offers a practical way to make improvements through the development of an energy management system (EnMS). Vp plc companies underwent an audit of the documentation and processes relating to their energy management, which will be monitored on a regular basis by Alcumus, a specialist consultancy.

Vp has made a commitment to reach net zero carbon emissions under the Science Based Targets initiative. The group aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions across its value chain (scope 1, 2 and 3) by 2050 from a 2022 base year.

In addition, by 2025 the majority of Vp’s top 250 suppliers by spend will be required to have set science-based emissions reduction targets, and the group itself will reduce its energy consumption intensity (kWh/m2) by 20 pre cent from a 2021 baseline.

Vp group companies include Brandon Hire Station, Groundforce, portable roadway business TPA, safety specialist ESS, mechanical and electrical equipment provider MEP Hire, Torrent Trackside and UK Forks in this country, along with Airpac Rental and TR Group in Australasia overseas. The business aims to be Net Zero by 2050 at the latest.
