Sunbelt Rentals takes sustainable Shindaiwas

Sunbelt Rentals is taking delivery of the first 100 Shindaiwa 300A Eco Hybrid welder generators for its Industrial business following on from an order placed last year.

The machines will be introduced across the hirer’s depot network for use at refineries, chemical plants and steelworks.

Trials undertaken by Sunbelt and Shindaiwa showed that the 300A Eco Hybrids can save users up to 60 per cent in fuel consumption and CO2 emissions compared to the manufacturer’s previous version. A capacitor works alongside the Stage V diesel engine to deliver responsive power, and units will be supplied with a Chalwyn valve and spark arrestor to ensure they meet the requirements of COMAH (Control of Major Accident Hazards) sites.

The machine has an integral backup battery and offers up to 300A of welding current, with automatic start/stop functionality.

Jonathan Newport, Managing Director – Specialist Solutions at Sunbelt Rentals, said: “Our partnership with Shindaiwa is a significant investment for our market-leading Industrial business and will further solidify our commitment to creating a greener and more sustainable future for everyone.”

Steve Smith, Director – Industrial and Lifting at Sunbelt, added: “By introducing the Eco Hybrid welder generator to our fleet we’re able to offer our customers an alternative, greener solution that reduces running costs with significant carbon and fuel savings.

“Our relationship with Shindaiwa extends many years and we’ve successfully been supplying their welder generators and ATEX-rated lighting to our Industrial customers for some time.”

Andy Munford, Managing Director of Shindaiwa Ltd, commented: “We’re happy to be strengthening our relationship with Sunbelt Rentals through this investment by adding the Eco Hybrid welder generator to their fleet. Developing more sustainable solutions for customers is something we share Sunbelt Rentals passion for, making this partnership a natural synergy.”
