Plantworx moves to Newark

The Newark Showground in Nottinghamshire is the new venue for the biennial Plantworx construction machinery exhibition, which will next take place from 23 to 25 September 2025.

A new location for the event was needed as a significant amount of land at the previous East of England Showground site in Peterborough had been earmarked for development.

The exhibition, which is owned and delivered by the CEA (Construction Equipment Association), has in previous years been held in June.

Simon Frere-Cook, Plantworx Event Director, says that Newark Showground was chosen for the quality of its infrastructure, which includes permanent walkways and dedicated communications facilities.

“While we can’t guarantee the weather, Newark is highly regarded for its grounds' quality and reliability, ensuring events run smoothly regardless of weather conditions,” he said.

“This new venue promises not only a continuation of the event's legacy but also an expansion of its impact and reach within the construction industry.”

The Newark venue offers 126 acres of flexible indoor and outdoor exhibition space, complimentary car parking and is located just off the A1. The facility is a five-minute taxi ride from Newark Northgate station.

Plantworx 2025 expects to accommodate more than 400 exhibitors and will continue to offer live demonstration areas with opportunities for visitors to gain hands-on experience with equipment.

The organisers say that six 24m by 24m plots are available for digging at depth, with additional space for above-ground demonstrations on hard standing or grass. Exhibitors can also bring in earth and aggregates to demonstrate machinery in realistic settings.

The purpose-designed exhibition area has free-draining grass and hard-standing areas, with three entrance/exit gates and seven additional gates onto the internal showground for smooth visitor flow.

Details of new initiatives to heighten the visitor experiences are also expected to be released shortly.
