SPOA ready for ScotPlant

The Scottish Plant Owners Association (SPOA) is looking forward to staging its best-ever stand with many activities, information and support for members at ScotPlant which takes place at the Royal Highland Centre in Edinburgh on 26 and 27 April.

Located at stand 13 on Avenue C, the association will be joined by members and partner institutions including Police Scotland, CITB and the National Construction College.

Callum Mackintosh, Immediate Past President, said: “ScotPlant is a real highlight for the plant industry. It is an opportunity to see the newest innovations in machinery and equipment, and importantly a chance for everybody to get together and share the challenges, experiences and opportunities we are facing.”

Visitors can explore issues such as plant and fuel theft prevention with Police Scotland representatives, and the eye-catching JCB 3CX (pictured above) that has been featured at events throughout Scotland to raise awareness will be on the stand. There will also be an opportunity to find out about fuel management systems which can remotely control fuel dispensing and link to machine telematics.

Representatives from the National Construction College will talk to employers about plant mechanic and operator apprenticeships, while CITB staff will give advice on training grants available to employers.

Gail McEwen from Setting Out For Construction will demonstrate machine control training available through the SPOA, and following the creation of the association’s Women in Plant working group, members and plant operators Charlie Macgregor and Carly Sommerville will talk career opportunities.
