Snorkel’s fine finish
18 March 2024
Snorkel Europe reports that the investment it makes in ensuring its powered access machines have a durable paint finish is delivering significant customer benefits.
“Hirers are realising that they are saving time and money by not having to repaint machines as frequently,” Andrew Fishburn, Snorkel’s Vice President Sales for UK & EMEA told me .
“The finish we achieve is two or three times the thickness of some other machines. We shotblast the steel instead of acid etching which gives a surface for better adhesion of the powder paint at our manufacturing plant in Washington, Tyne & Wear.
“We also bake the components at 400C and the result is a paint coating that is more durable, yet flexible enough to withstand movement during operation,” he added. “Body components also have rounded edges to make them more scratch-resistant.
“Some major automotive manufacturers test their products to withstand 500 hours of salt spray exposure, but we test ours to over 1,000 hours.”
Andrew said this paint finish quality enhances the appeal of machines like Snorkel’s rough terrain scissor lifts, being rugged, heavy-duty models that can typically be used in hire fleets over longer periods, delivering a better return on investment.
