Boels buys Illumin8 Lights

Boels Rental has just announced the acquisition of Illumin8 Lights Ltd, a leading UK lighting tower hire specialist with customers across varied industries including construction, events, civil engineering, rail and TV and film.
The business was founded in 2015 by current MD Neil Fenwick, who is pictured (left) with Asif Latief, MD of Boels Rental UK.
Commenting on the acquisition, Asif says: “We are very happy to welcome Neil Fenwick and the Illumin8 team to the Boels family. Neil Fenwick has more than 24 years’ experience supplying lighting towers and other products to construction projects and events. Seeking further expansion, Ilumin8 wanted to grow to the next level.
“In order to achieve our ambitious growth plans, we felt that aligning with an international group like Boels Rental would provide us with the platform to grow. I am proud of the entire team at Illumin8 and I’m confident we have a bright future as part of the Boels family”, says Neil.
According to Asif Latief, developing specialist divisions is a key part of his growth strategy and he says this acquisition is important to support the growth of Boels’ lighting division in the UK.
“This acquisition allows us to expand our already significant lighting tower fleet so we can provide our existing customers with more choice,” he added. “It also gives us the opportunity to develop our growing presence in newer markets with complimentary equipment from our rental fleet, for example fencing, barriers, signage and larger generators.
“But it’s not just about equipment; by acquiring Illumin8 we’re adding great people to the Boels team in the UK – people who have solid industry experience and expertise and can give customers peace of mind on their next project or event.”
Boels Rental is one of the largest hire companies in Europe, with more than 800,000 rental items in its fleet. It has than 725 branches in 18 countries and its UK operation provides compact plant, tool hire, lighting, powered access and low-level access, power generation and survey & laser equipment through a network of over 30 depots.
