Shindaiwa has added the compact Site Search lamp to its specialist range of Site Bright lighting products.

The battery powered Site Search has ATEX certification for use in the most extreme Zone 0 potentially explosive atmospheres. Weighing just over 7kg, the lamp has a light output of up to 1600 lumens, sustainable for up to ten hours.

The 360 degree rotating telescopic head provides positional precision for illuminating work zones and inspection areas. With IP65 ingress protection and a durable anti-static polycarbonate body and lens, the lamp is built for use in extreme work environments such as petrochemical, offshore, defence, surveying or utilities in hazardous locations.

Shindaiwa also tell me that a number of personnel recently completed five-day CompEx training courses and refresher courses. These provide the knowledge to ensure that people have the required level of competence for assembling, installing and servicing equipment designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres.

The rigorous EX01-04 training course includes three days of theory and practical learning followed by two days of assessment that entail an online exam, practical installation tests and fault-finding challenges. Accreditation lasts for five years.

“Having this qualification ensures that anyone in our team who may work with ATEX-approved lighting for hazardous environments are adequately trained to do so,” said Tom Page, Shindaiwa’s Sales Director.

As well as the Site Search, Shindaiwa’s other Site Bright products for such applications include the M1 Series, Site Sphere, Ultra rechargeable and the BLD series of work lights.
