Clever Fox opens in Hull

It is often said that the most important quality of a property is its location and the Hull depot of Foxies Hire Solutions proves the point.

The facility was established late last year to complement the company’s existing outlet in Stallingborough, North Lincolnshire, and MD Rob Fox tells me that the site could hardly be better for the business, which specialises in serving petrochemical, construction, and port and logistics contractors.

The Hull depot is on a trading estate and is only 400 yards away from the entrance to Saltend Chemical Park, a massive 370-acre site on the banks of the River Humber that is home to many manufacturing, chemicals and renewable energy businesses, some of which Foxies already dealt with.

“We’ve been looking to expand for several years but then Covid got in the way,” Rob told me. “A lot of our customers said we should open in Hull because no-one locally offers all the specialist items that we do.

“This now gives us a presence on the North and South bank of the Humber in what is a huge petrochemical industrial area.

“It will also enable us to target new customers in Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire which is a huge area, and certainly the news of our Hull depot opening has been spreading like wildfire,” he added.

Running the new Hull facility is Depot Manager Chris Garrett and the company is recruiting an additional fitter.

The hire fleet includes equipment for maintenance and shutdown operations for the petrochemical industries, such as welding and pipe working tools, hydraulic lifts, flange spreading tools, high-pressure test pumps, magnetic drills and ventilation products.

“We recently introduced a range of pneumatic and battery torque equipment because contractors said they couldn’t source them locally, and when they need something on site, they need it now,” said Rob.

Foxies Hire Solutions, which was established in 2016, has one of the largest fleets of Shindaiwa welder generators amongst independent hirers. Interestingly, the company currently has no fewer than 56 machines, all of them Eco 300 models.

Looking forward, there are plans to build hydrogen processing and carbon capture facilities in the area near Saltend Chemical Park, which would create additional demand for equipment.

So, location really does seem to be all-important.
