Shindaiwa powers ahead with £1m-plus in orders

Shindaiwa announced significant orders from hirers at the Executive Hire Show today, including business from Speedy and the power generation specialist Genny Hire.

Speedy placed an order for Shindaiwa welder generators worth more than £1m, comprising petrol Eco 165 models, diesel Eco 200 sets and diesel Eco 300 machines. The first units will be delivered by the end of March.

Michael O’Neill, Category Manager – Welding at Speedy said that this is part of a major expansion in this area of the hirer’s activity as it increases its fleet offering and establishes additional specialist depots nationwide to support the welding and engineering sector.

“We already have Shindaiwa welder generators in the fleet,” he said. “We have bought these latest machines because of their reliability, the fact that they have Stage V engines and are HVO ready, as well as the excellent support we get from Shindaiwa’s Andy Munford (managing director) and Tom Page (sales director).

Shindaiwa has customised some of the 300A models with spark arrestors and Chalwyn valves to enable use in potentially explosive environments such as petrochemical facilities. Others have been adapted from their usual road-tow format to have wheelbarrow frames for easy manoeuvrability in areas of restricted access.

Michael says that Speedy’s expanded welding and engineering line-up will include more AC/DC welding sets, pulse welders, pipe threaders, compressors and press fitting tools, amongst other items.

Also placing an order on the stand today was Genny Hire (pictured below), the power generation specialist based in Kintore near Aberdeen. Director Lorna Clark and Workshop Supervisor Chris Soal (centre) clinched the deal with Andy Munford for several more Shindaiwa PowerCenter 15 generators for its fleet to meet unprecedented demand.

Why is the PowerCenter 15 model proving popular? More on that in a future blog post…
