HSC helps refugees

The Hire Supply Company’s (HSC) recent appeal for donations to help the humanitarian relief effort for Ukrainian refugees has aroused a rapid response.

Managing director Gary McWilliam tells me that, following the announcement of the initiative last week encouraging people to donate items at its two main offices in Nottngham and London, the company will be dispatching a consignment of much-needed items tomorrow to a relief centre in Poland, where many refugees from the conflict have fled.

More shipments will be made in the coming weeks.

“I’m overwhelmed by some of the items that we have received, showing that people have gone out and bought things specially that are desperately needed, as well as what they might have already had available,” said Gary. 

“We had one instance of a couple in Nottingham who were taking a load of items over to Poland themselves but found they couldn’t fit everything that they had collected into their van. They contacted us and I drove over to collect the surplus from them.” 

The donated items are wide-ranging and include clothing, bedding, toiletries, medicine, baby food and much else besides. This will help many people who face extreme difficulties.
