We’ve read a lot during the pandemic about businesses that have adapted to overcome challenges and to meet new demands, from offering click-and-collect services and rapid deliveries, to introducing better administrative systems and remote working. 

It’s the same with hire companies, many of which have been looking at ways of boosting their efficiency. 

“A lot of organisations, particularly those that had to furlough staff, are examining their operations and exploring ways of doing things better,” says Dean Hammond, global director of account executives with Point of Rental Software. 

“Customers who already use our systems are taking additional modules and apps for aspects of business like workshop management, mobile working, driver schedules and going paperless. 

Mobile apps for use with Point of Rental’s popular Syrinx hire management software (pictured above), for example, allow drivers to manage information about routes, vehicle checks, signature capture and to store equipment photographs, while workshop staff can keep records of service operations, maintenance, breakdowns and customer repairs.

Sales personnel can also get mobile access to customer records and generate quotations. 

“Systems like this let managers know what’s happening before it’s happened, and knowledge is power,” says Dean.
