Cesar’s half-million

Cesar’s half-million

The Cesar (Construction Equipment Security and Registration) scheme for protecting equipment against theft reached a major milestone with the 500,000th machine fitted with the security marking system having recently rolled off the production line.

The scheme, devised by Datatag and owned by the Construction Equipment Association (CEA) and the Agricultural Engineers Association(AEA), was launched in 2007. The CEA states that today more than 85% of new construction and agricultural machinery in the UK is now fitted with the system as standard.

Cesar was also augmented following the introduction of the Emissions Compliance Verification (ECV) product to quickly identify the environmental characteristics of equipment on site.

The system makes use of tamper-evident triangular identification plates, hidden RFID transponders, and microscopic markings which are almost impossible to remove successfully. When recorded on Datatag's secure database, machine details are accessible to the police constantly, enabling them to identify equipment quickly.
