Luscombe keeps growing

Like so many other hirers at the moment, Luscombe Plant & Tool Hire is adding new machinery to its fleet when it becomes available to meet strong customer demand.

“We’ve added six Bobcat E10z micros in the last 12 months, as well as more Kubota minis, JCB 5-tonne diggers and Mecalac dumpers,” says managing director Simon Luscombe.

“Small builders and landscapers are really busy. People who aren’t able to take holidays are putting the money towards home improvements and extensions.”

Luscombe Plant & Tool Hire, which this year celebrates its 20th anniversary, is located in the southern Lake District town of Ulverston and is very much at the heart of the local community.

Simon’s wife, Beverley, who is also a director along with their son, Dan, runs the company’s successful retail operation.

Occupying two floors, it offers a very wide range of tools, consumables and clothing which is appreciated by local people who would otherwise have to travel long distances to larger towns. (I’ll be writing more about the Luscombes’ retail activity in a future blog post.)

To meet the ongoing hire demand, the company has added an extra yard to store equipment and materials on a plot opposite its main building, measuring more than one acre.
