One Stop has Lift-off
12 January 2021
One Stop Hire has expanded its operation with the launch of a Lifting Services division. The new activity’s first depot is in Newton-le-Willows, and situated at the company’s non-mechanical equipment site in the town. More locations are in the pipeline.
Managing director Steve Hitchen tells me this is a product area that has been on One Stop’s radar for some time, having had regular re-hire demand.
“We have invested significantly in new equipment for Lifting Services, from block grabs and lifting beams, to chain blocks and shackles. We’re concentrating on the fast-moving items that appeal to our existing client base.”
The Newton-le-Willows presence was opened in December and the new operation is headed up by general manager Keiron Griffiths.
“We’re planning to open additional Lifting locations in Leeds and Birmingham within the next six months to give coverage throughout the Midlands, Yorkshire and the north west of England,” says Steve.
“Our existing Leeds depot is moving to a new site that will become available in April. It offers us double the space. We are also considering opening another tool and equipment hire site in the West Midlands.”
Steve says that business has been strong right from the start of the New Year and that the new lockdown does not seem to have dampened demand, which are very positive signs.
