Pickerings contract win
12 October 2020
Pickerings has won a multi-million pound government contract to provide temporary facilities for use as Covid-19 test centres.
Over 200 building modules with related products and services will be delivered and installed on sites nationwide as part of a full turnkey package. The temporary testing facilities will be ready to use within weeks.
Managing director, Neil Moss, said, “We will be supplying building solutions from all our depots and supporting local communities across the country. This contract shows the flexibility our modular buildings provide in meeting a variety of uses as well as our ability to respond quickly to immediate requirements.”
The government’s interest in the wider use of modular construction techniques has been discussed earlier on this site.
With regard to this latest Pickerings contract, it is interesting to note that, as well as the building modules, the company will provide groundworks, wi-fi, water supply, waste water emptying, fire alarms, generators and fuel management.
This shows the wide range of products and services that such projects require, giving opportunities for tool hire and plant hire companies.
